Medieval helmets

In Medieval history, warriors and gladiators are among the well-respected individuals. They are always suited in the best armor. Medieval helmets are often very intimidating in style. They have to exude an air of fierceness and bravery. Typically they are made of the strongest, heaviest metals and can weigh anywhere from 10 to 20 lbs.

In the olden days, the way a warrior’s helmet is built often signifies his rank in the army. These days, medieval helmets are often used as decorative elements or as costumes in medieval fairs and events. They are made from metals that are not as heavy as the authentic helmets. The most popular kind of medieval helmet is probably the one seen in the movie The 300.

dry suits

Dry suits are often used by experienced divers who dive during the cold and icy weather. These suits are particularly designed to withstand extreme conditions and provide maximum comfort for the divers. This is especially useful for researchers and rescue workers who will go under such difficult situations.

Rigorous tests are made on dry suits to ensure that they perform to standard and will protect the divers. A bio-ceramic material is infused with inorganic and oxidized metals that emit FIR rays to warm the body surface. This is how the body keeps warm even during freezing temperatures. Latex seals are in place on the collars and wrists to ensure that no water or ice can enter the suit. The boots are also reinforced and have an anti-slip sole.

hookah stems

See those exotic smoking pipes being smoked on by people in India and the Middle East? They’re called hookahs. They are water pipes usually made of glass and uses filtration and indirect heat to course the smoke through one or more hookah stems attached to the main pipe. Herbal fruits, tobacco and even cannabis are some of the items smoked through these pipes.

The hookah is believed to have been invented in India, during the time of the Mughal emperor Akbar. When tobacco was introduced to the country by Europeans, a doctor from the court raised health concerns about its effects after smoking tobacco became popular among Indian noblemen. The doctor then sought to develop a way that would allow people to smoke in a purified form using water, and the hookah was the result.

poker card covers

Serious poker players will have poker card covers in their card playing accessories. It is one way to ensure that your cards are always in one place and will not be damaged. Your chips need to be carried in one case as well. So, when you go out and play with the boys, you don’t have to search for all your playing paraphernalia.

You can even get other accessories for you and your poker-playing buddies. There are chip carriers so you can bring as many chips as you like. There are special tables and mats you can use to have that special casino feel. Poker nights will never be the same again. And with all that practice at home, maybe it’s time to take the competition level a little higher and hit the competition circuit as well.

Whether you are using an electric guitar or a classical guitar, amplifiers make string instruments sound better. Good guitar amps come with a balancer that harmonizes each of the six strings according to their tonicity. Amps also come with different wattages, and depending on the loudness an amplifier, can produce noise of serveral decibels.

A stronger wattage can intensify the sounds of several instruments and has several jack outlets. A good amplifier has the provision to be compatible with other plug-ins such as guitar effects and synthesizers. Bigger amps are designed for big audiences such as concerts.

Viking swords

During the time of the Vikings, it was said that all free men were expected to own weapons while magnates were supposed to provide them for their men. The main offensive weapons used were Viking swords, spears and battle-axes as well as bows and arrows. These weapons were not only for battle but also used as symbols of their owners’ status and wealth.

Viking weapons were often decorated with adornments using silver, bronze and copper. Since swords were very expensive to make, they are signs of high status. The blades were usually designed to be double-edged with lengths of up to 90cm. These were worn in leather-bound wooden scabbards.

metal detector

The latest episode on my favorite reality TV contest involved contestants going treasure hunting–sort-of. The contestants were to find a key that would open the box containing their next clue. The bigger challenge there was how to find the keys in the middle of the scorching desert armed with only a metal detector to find the keys, which were buried in the sand.

Many teams kept returning to their shade every now and then because of the heat. It took them some time to find the right keys, because there were a lot buried in the sand and not every key was a right fit. Ultimately the underdog team (who came in last) got the right key and was able to finish the challenge, leaving the rest of the teams to eat their dust, so to say.
