Racing HO Slot car Versions
Slot car racing is a hobby that involves racing slot cars. It is a competitive hobby that has a lot to do with the power of miniature vehicles. A slot car driver uses a hand-held controller to regulate an electric motor hidden within the car. Each car runs on individual lanes. The challenge in racing slot cars comes in taking curves and other obstacles at the highest speed that will not cause the car to lose its grip and spin sideways, or to ‘deslot’, leaving the track all together.
Slot cars are offered in different scales of sizes. There are three common slot car scales (sizes): 1:24 scale, 1:32 scale, and so-called HO size (1.87 to 1.64 scales). These are also commonly written as 1/24, 1/32, 1/87 and 1/64. Some of the later versions of HO slot cars are produced by Playing Mantis. The first new offerings were the Thunder Jet 500 and XTraction chassis that became very popular. The new chassis are smooth running and much easier to drive that its predecessors.
